As food costs skyrocket across the nation, it comes as no surprise that Union Gospel Mission of Salem is experiencing side effects.
From meat to milk and every nourishing food staple in between, UGM is seeing serious shortages in our kitchens.
Simonka Place, we are down to our last box of chicken – our freezers are empty of high-quality protein. We have been longtime recipients of donated dairy products like butter and milk, but our suppliers, too, are hamstrung by food costs and are unable to accommodate many of our needs.
Even common pantry items like canned vegetables, pasta, and rice are sparse on our shelves.
Please help us fill these urgent needs. On average, our kitchens feed more than 13,000 men, women, and children, monthly. It’s not only important to provide enough calories for each person, but also a meal that is quality, healthy, and sustaining.
You can help! Please consider donating one or multiple of the following items:

I have some dried pinto beans and rice. Could you use that?
Absolutely! Thank you.
what would be your preference? Donate a lot of one or two items or use the list as a shopping list one of each items?
Hi, Mike! Probably a large quantity of a single item would be most helpful, but of course we are appreciative of anything you’re able to help us with. Thank you!
Hello! We used to live in Salem and supported UGM when there (now in Arizona), but we still get your emails and saw the food shortage issue, and wanted to help as fast as we could. We got on Amazon and ordered 40 lbs of spaghetti and 4 cases (48 jars) of Prego spaghetti sauce, which is getting shipped straight to Simonka House, which was the first address in the email. The pasta arrives tomorrow (Wednesday, 5/25) and the sauce arrives the next day (Thursday, 5/26). You can distribute however you need to the men’s missionm, or use it all for Simonka, whatever works, I just picked Simonka as the shipping address. We did call Simonka to let them know it was coming, just following up in case that operson isn’t there when it all shows up, and you are wondering where it all came from. Thank you and God bless!
Wow! That’s incredible. Thank you so much for your help — this will go a long way.
I will start saving my extra eggs for you.
Ohhh, thank you, Shannon. Every bit helps!
