Gary Saves a Life

We often say our volunteers are lifesavers because of the incredible support they offer our guests. For former employee and Men’s Mission volunteer, Gary Dulany, this title took on a whole new meaning.

When Gary learned UGM guest and disabled veteran Jeffery was on the floor, unconscious, he rushed straight in. Gary performed CPR and continued to do so until paramedics arrived on the scene. Later, Salem Police stopped by the Mission and shared with our staff that Jeffery was going to be okay: Gary’s quick action had saved Jeffery’s life!

While not all our volunteers are trained in CPR or would ever have an occasion to use such skills, we are incredibly grateful for Gary and all our volunteers who use their talents and skills to give help and hope to our homeless guests and clients. Gary, you truly are a lifesaver!
